LUTS or “look up tables” are tiny machines that take an input and create an output. They take color values and create a corresponding color, adjust the hue or saturation, or add harsh contrast. They are used to adjust or change color within an image.

When you want to make a photo look awesome and not dull or boring, you can download a LUT file. You have to have the right application to open LUTS, such as Photoshop or Adobe Premiere Pro. Once you open the LUT within the program, it adds specific color adjustments to the image. Such as in the third video link below, he adds an “Arctic Circle” LUT that makes the image have a cool, blue color filter. Then you can adjust the opacity, hue, brightness, contrast, etc. to make the photo look a specific way you want it.

A light green hue added with a mossy green Lut can add shadows and contrasts within tree branches or bushes of an image. Many Luts can add an aura to an image to convey a message or feeling.
